The Thirty Nine Steps by John Buchan
Written in 1915 you can see the impact of this book on the current detective genre, the next step after Sherlock Holmes. I look forward to reading more of his works.

Carter Ross, Book 1. Looks like it could be a fun light series. The author ties everything up with a pretty bow.
