 The first in the series was entertaining, light, not totally baked but fun.

 Well written and interesting science but repetitive, just like the Martian but in a different setting. Hard to finish.

In the Morning I'll Be Gone Detective by Adrian McKinty

 What a great surprise, really well written and gripping. Sean Duffy, book 3, is my first read for McKinty but I can't wait to read another.
