Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham

One dimensional bad guys who were so unlikeable that you didn't want to spend time with them made this book a chore. Too bad, because Grisham sure can spin a tale and deliver great court action.

Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith

The third in the Cormoran Strike series is possibly the best. Long but the characters are so likable that it's still a pleasure. Some plot items looked like they'd be cookie cutter but didn't go down as expected, that was nice. Robin is a smart likable character who did a lot of out of character dumb things that was hard to reconcile.

Virgil Flowers in space. Just OK but probably expected too much because it's Sanford.

The Survivor by Vince Flynn, Kyle Mills

Disappointing but OK.

Jack Reacher, book 20, follows the previous character line with a long drawn out story. The plot is interesting and different but the amount of time for it to unfold is tiresome.

Saints of the Shadow Bible by Ian Rankin

My first entry into the Inspector Rebus series, book 19, was pleasurable. Rankin is a superb writer who creates rich and interesting imperfect characters. It was a little slow.

Black Swan by Chris Knopf

This was the 5th and likely the last in Sam Acquillo Hamptons Mystery Series. It was probably the weakest in the series but still enjoyable more due to characters than plot.

A good thriller.

This is the first and worst in the Pike Logan series. Multiple stories run in parallel and only one is interesting. Really hard to get through.

Bizarre but enjoyable, I'd try the author's second attempt.

Haig puts out good thrillers. Wish there were more to read - eagerly await his next.

Providence Rag by Bruce DeSilva

The Liam Mulligan series is not getting better. It's got a lot of boring bits that get in the way of what could be an entertaining story.

Interesting, incomplete little story. Nice LA references, like Connelly.

I can't put my finger on why this wasn't better. Lots of good action and typical SEAL jack'm up stuff but it felt a little to touchy feely.

A Montana Mystery Featuring Gabriel Du Pré, Book 11. Man I listen to these rarely so that I don't finish the series. This was excellent.

Too long but Baldacci writes so well that it's fun to the 'filler'.

Enjoyable, got better as it went along. Not great but these guys have a good macho formula.

OK but would read Higgins again.

A Spycatcher Novel. Just OK.

Man in the Middle by Brian Haig

A little fluff, but a very entertaining book. Looking forward to Haig's next.

Independence Day by Ben Coes

Another Dewey Andreas novel, and kind of like the other ones, it's OK. It's an enjoyable formula.

The Neon Lawyer by Victor Methos

The writing was sometimes awkward but I appreciated the author creating a 4 1/2 hour book and not adding a bunch of fluff to be like the other mysteries. I would read Methos again.

A very interesting tale of World War 2 from the eyes of a soldier in the trenches.

So odd, but so likable. How Block makes a hit man stamp collector so interesting is beyond me.

Perhaps the best in the series. Lots of interaction with Bond and M, whose name is Miles.

Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

From 1950's radio. What a pleasure. Even had Orson Wells as Moriarty. Pleasantly surprised!

Wicked Prey by John Sandford

The 19th in the series of 24, and the last one for me. How does Sanford write 24 stories this compelling?

Dreaming Spies by Laurie R. King

Such a beautiful writer, great character but just too much fluff.

The Chase by Clive Cussler

Good story teller but just too much fluff. Author was purposely giving away the plot and that worked just wish there was an editor to remove 50% of the book.

Torpedo Juice by Tim Dorsey

Kookie and fun. A little disjointed but I'd listen to Dorsey again.

The Thirty Nine Steps by John Buchan

Written in 1915 you can see the impact of this book on the current detective genre, the next step after Sherlock Holmes. I look forward to reading more of his works.
